About Sculptra & Radiesse Injections
Overview of the Procedure
Sculptra and Radiesse are cosmetic filler injections used to treat skin imperfections such as wrinkles, folds, and scars. The chemicals in these injections thicken the tissue under the skin, minimizing imperfections.
Reasons for the Procedure
Patients may be unhappy with the state of their skin and wish to correct imperfections. These injections make the face appear fuller and more even. Imperfections that can be treated with Sculptra and Radiesse include: indented skin, sunken skin, skin folds, deep wrinkles and scars.
What to Expect
Multiple injections are usually necessary. Local anesthesia or a numbing cream may be used. Sculptra or Radiesse is injected just below the top layer of skin. You will need to ice the injection site immediately afterward.
If swelling and/or bruising occurs, use an ice pack. You may need to massage the injection site to evenly distribute the filler. Pain can be managed with medication. You will start noticing changes in several days. Injections may be necessary every six to twelve months.
